The Advocate's Armor

Being a patient is a full-time job. When you have FND, communicating your symptoms while experiencing them is the ultimate high-wire act.

Protocol 01

The Handover Note

Don't rely on your foggy memory. Write down your top three concerns on a physical card and hand it to the doctor immediately. It keeps the conversation anchored.

Protocol 02

The Waiting Sanctuary

Sitting in a medical waiting room is energy-intensive. Wear your sunglasses and noise-canceling headphones. If they ask, tell them it's for sensory management. You aren't being rude; you're preserving your spoons for the actual appointment.

Protocol 03

The Recovery Window

A 20-minute appointment can cost you 4 hours of recovery time. Schedule it that way. Don't book anything else for the afternoon. Give your system permission to settle.
